Who We Are:
The Columbia River Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA-CR)
We are the local affiliate of the national organization, the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). The chapter was chartered in 1970, and has been in continuous operation since that date. The chapter has over 125 members who reside in Clark County and greater Southwest Washington. All branches of the uniformed services are represented and members include commissioned and warrant officers who are retired, on active duty, or are members of the National Guard and Reserve and former commissioned and warrant officers.
The Columbia River Chapter supports the goals and objectives of MOAA through contact with its elected officials and a variety of civic groups.
Chapter Activities
Our activities include monthly business and social lunch or dinner meetings. Included in our social activities are our annual St. Paddy's Day dinner and joint meetings with the Portland, Oregon MOAA Chapter (at the Portland Air National Guard Base) , an annual Christmas social, and various other events in which the Chapter supports local efforts to honor community Veterans.
Chapter Key Interest
The Chapter's key interests have focused on "Support the Troops" fund raising programs, TOPS (ultimately extending to all veterans of all ranks), a lively, entertaining and educational guest speaker program, informative updates regarding Veterans' affairs/legislative actions, "Lunch Buddies," "Math Buddies," and other area school programs, discounted travel opportunities (R&R), and an on-going proactive liaison and partnership with the community to support Veterans and their families.
Communications
We publish a newsletter nine times a year coinciding with our meetings and highlight events and important information affecting all MOAA members. This newsletter is sent to all members prior to each scheduled meeting or event.
In April 2007 the chapter inaugurated this Web site.
